Professor & Sports Scientist – International Partner, Base Training Academy
Professor Peter Bukhala holds a master's degree from McGill University in Canada and a doctorate in adapted physical activities from Kenyatta University in Kenya.
He played a key role in developing athletic programs at Camp Shriver at Kenyatta University, documented by Reuters and broadcast across Africa. The initiative provided integrated opportunities for youth with and without disabilities to develop athletic skills.
Bukhala served on the International Paralympic Committee's Sports Science Committee (2010-2014) representing Africa. He was also a Eunice Kennedy Shriver Fellow and participated in the Special Olympics global steering committee for strategic development (2010-2015).
He is department head and associate professor in the Department of Health Promotion and Sports Science at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST). In this capacity, he has secured significant grants and developed university-community partnerships. He additionally serves as visiting professor at Katholiek University in Belgium.
Bukhala has published over 30 research articles and book chapters in sports science and supervised graduate students at master's and doctoral levels.
He holds positions on regional athletic committees and has traveled extensively to present at national and international conferences.
